Plastic Grocery Bags & Yarn Needed

As a community service project, Grades 5-8 have been working with the Central PA Operation Warm Hearts to create comfort mats, hats, scarves and ear warmers for those in need in our community.  This year we were able to donate four comfort mats (which require about 400 grocery bags per mat), 30 hats, 25 scarves and 50 ear warmers.

We are seeking donations of plastic grocery bags and yarn to support our efforts.  The plastic bags will be repurposed into plarn (plastic yarn), which is then crocheted or woven into durable, weather-resistant mats.  Yarn donations will be used to create hats, scarves and ear warmers.  This initiative not only provides warmth, but also promotes recycling and sustainability within our community.

Donations may be dropped off at the designated bin by the school’s table in the hallway between the church and school.  Please feel free to use the form below to reach out to Jennifer McCary with any questions.
